We’re excited to introduce the updated Know Your Landscape (KYL) dashboard! This powerful tool helps you dive deep into the socio-ecological dynamics of regions across India, allowing you to explore the intricate relationships between environmental and social factors. Whether you’re a policymaker, researcher, or a programme manager, the KYL dashboard is designed to offer actionable insights about your landscape.

What’s New in the KYL Dashboard?

After showcasing the earlier version, we’ve rolled out major improvements and added new features that are now ready for testing. Your feedback will help us refine the platform and make it even more impactful.

How to Get Started:

  1. Access the Dashboard
Visit https://www.explorer.core-stack.org/ to explore the dashboard.
  2. Choose Your Region
Select a state, district, and tehsil, then click Know Your Landscape to load the map.
  3. Explore Map Layers
     The map will show:
Blue Boundaries: Micro-watersheds, essential for water management

Black Boundaries: Village boundaries, representing local administrative units

4. Click on any micro-watershed to view a detailed report, which includes data analysis and insights. You can also download the report as a PDF.

5. Use Filters to Discover Insights
The left sidebar offers a range of filters that let you explore various environmental and social factors. For instance, you can examine how water availability varies in different terrains, how it impacts agriculture, and which populations are affected by this.

6.Download Layers for Further Exploration
Want to dive deeper? Visit https://www.explorer.core-stack.org/landscape_explorer, select your region, and download QGIS style files for more data.

We Need Your Feedback!

Your experience matters to us! As you explore, feel free to share any feedback—whether it’s bugs, suggestions, or insights—by downloading the PDF report and marking your comments. Your input will help us improve the platform.

Why Social-Ecological Patterns Matter

The KYL dashboard is all about identifying social-ecological patterns—how environmental factors (like rainfall or terrain) interact with social dynamics (such as population or economic activities). These patterns provide valuable insights that help us understand regional challenges and design better solutions.

In the future, we’ll be working with users to define these patterns more clearly and develop actionable strategies. Our goal is to help communities and policymakers take proactive, data-driven steps toward more sustainable, resilient landscapes.

A Collaborative Effort

This KYL dashboard has been created by the CoRE stack team, with dataset methodologies developed primarily at IIT Delhi in consultation with several CSOs and environment research organizations, and the design and development undertaken by the CommonsTech Foundation and WELL Labs.

Looking Ahead:

The future of the KYL dashboard is all about empowering communities and decision-makers to make informed, data-driven decisions. Whether it’s managing water resources or tackling environmental challenges, the insights from this platform will play a critical role in shaping sustainable solutions.

We invite you to explore, provide feedback, and join us in this exciting journey to make data-driven environmental decision-making a reality.
